Jamrock Jamaican

This client approached me with a passion project he’d been developing for most of his professional career. His dream was to share his culture’s beloved culinary traditions in a more modern, fast-casual restaurant concept. One that could be easily expanded and would feel at home in any future locations. He came to me with a complete menu, a newly signed lease at one of central LA’s most popular shopping centers and a very loose idea about the new brand’s aesthetic. He gave me creative control to design a visual story that began with a logo and evolved into a complete design of the restaurant space itself. Using the early brand copy provided, I designed the following branding and style guide to bring his vision to life.

My goal was to keep the logo simple, highlighted by bright colors representative of Jamaican culture and vintage imagery that would nod to the traditional cooking techniques used throughout the menu. It was also important to me to include these images as a way to showcase the brightness and joy of the Jamaican people. In addition to the style guide, I also designed a 3D rendering of the space that does a great job of showcasing all of the design elements that went into the overall brand story.
